1. Contract flexibility: can either party cancel, with no penalty, with an agreed upon notification window (usually 30-60 days)?
2. Subcontracting: ask providers if they subcontract their work and consider requiring a no-subcontracting clause in your contract. "Secret subcontracting" is very common in the industry, reducing quality while increasing costs. At L&K, we never subcontract. All of our clients are served by our W2'd employees.
3. Security: ask what pre-employment screening the company conducts on potential employees.
4. Quality Control: ask who within the company spot-checks client locations, and how often. Also ask if the same, consistent crew will service your location.
5. Issue Resolution: who do you call when there is an issue of any kind? Ask about a time the company was notified by a client about an issue. Ask them to tell you about how the issue was handled.
